The Columbus Crowd edged the league door-mat Burbank Tigers at the ballpark by
the score of 5 to 4.
Columbus won the game with a rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits.
Lyle Overbay started the inning off right when he doubled. Hank Blalock was
the next batter, but he struck out. Brad Wilkerson then smashed a two-run
homer (his 15th of the season). Burbank threatened in the 9th but Columbus
was able to put down the rally.
The win was credited to John Parrish(7-3) who went 1/3 of an inning allowing
no runs. Parrish got help from Latroy Hawkins who earned his 4th save. Barry
Zito(5-9) ended up with the loss. He pitched 8 innings and surrendered 8
hits and 6 walks.
'It was a tough one to lose' said Wes Davies 'We'll get them next time out.'
